Hywel Davies is a highly experienced and accomplished professional with over three decades of experience in community regeneration, business development, and social enterprise. He has a proven track record of success in initiating, developing, and implementing impactful projects that foster positive change within communities.
Throughout his career, Hywel has held key positions within community regeneration, such as the Ammanford Joint Venture. As Director of Community Action Network Cymru, he led on strategic initiatives across Wales such as the Communities First programme for example. He has also excelled as a Commercial and Partnerships Development Manager at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, supporting staff with commercialisation and consultancy opportunities in Digital Innovation and Technology, Engineering, Creative Industries, Management and Leadership, to name but a few.

Hywel is an award winning social entrepreneur, holding a B.A. degree in Studies in the Rural Environment from the University of Wales, and a Dip TP (post) in Town Planning from the University of the West of England, Bristol. Hywel Davies has a diverse and extensive work history spanning several decades in community regeneration, business development and social enterprise.
- Community Regeneration: Successfully initiated, developed, and project managed regeneration schemes in Ammanford, including transforming a former department store into a new library and refurbishing the town’s miners welfare hall as well as its listed Victorian arcade.
- Social Enterprise: Established and managed Amcan Enterprise Limited, a successful social enterprise focused on supporting local non-profit and third-sector organisations.
- Business Development: As Director of Amcan, he has supported the development of many third sector organisations and social entrepreneurs. As Principal Business Development Officer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, he has supported academic staff with commercialisation, consultancy, and spin-out activities.
- Strategic Leadership: Successfully launched Community Action Network in Wales, establishing a CAN office cluster in Cardiff and initiating contacts with the Welsh Government and third-sector organisations.
- Change Management: Played a key role in the development of a £12 million media hub on the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Carmarthen campus, requiring collaboration with Sianel Pedwar Cymru (S4C) and the university.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Served as a member of the Welsh Government Communities @ One Advisory and Grant panels, supporting efforts to bridge the digital divide in disadvantaged communities.
